
On our software we have a list of Fruits,
vegetables, meats-poultry-beans-nuts-soy products-eggs, grains, dairy, fats, and miscellaneous. Basically each category has
multiple choices of foods for our clients to choose from. People over the age of 65 need to fulfill the right amount of vitamins
and nutrients in order to maintain a healthy life style. With that said if our clients pick more foods that are enriched in
a certain nutrient or vitamin and small amounts in other nutrients, our software will adjust their portion sizes. Meaning
that if they picked more foods with Vitamin B and not as many in Vitamin C our software will double the portion sizes in Vitamin
C and lower the portions for Vitamin B. All in all our software will adjust the percentages of what our clients pick from
each list.
We divided our food groups into Vitamin A, B and fiber, C, D and calcium, and E and iron. Our program works as a point
system depending on how many grams of each one needs to attain in one day. As one picks a certain food, lets say an apple
from Vitamin A it will subtract from the maximum amount of points needed in a day.
